Story: Miles is stuck in a dead-end job, still in love with his ex-girlfriend Nova. Mumbai is making headlines all over the world for the shoddy monsoon in the city and the fact that it will go to polls next year. But while the city’s neglected condition gets on everyone’s nerves, it isn’t the only thing that’s being highlighted. An unusual film titled, ‘Guns Akimbo’ is being screened at IFFI 2017 and I can assure you that it will leave you stunned. This is Sharat Katariya’s second time at IFFI as the film that he has written and directed is the Indian entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language category. In fact, he had earlier made his debut at IFFI as the writer of ‘Life of Pi’ in 2013, that had become the most expensive Indian film of all time.
Now, the film is being screened as part of the Panorama section. The plot of ‘Guns Akimbo’ has been written and directed by Sharat Katariya and revolves around a team of robbers who disguise themselves as Akbar. This is the first time that IFFI has screened such a film. The rest of the cast of the film has been played by Abhishek Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
The film was premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. The filmmakers said, “It is an extremely unique, out-of-the-box and unusual feature that is narrated as if it is a comic book.”
It has been written by Sharat Katariya and directed by Shuchi Sibal. The film is set in a small town of Uttar Pradesh. The director describes the film as “a heist thriller set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh and the ‘Munna Bhai’ of the underworld.”
